Stencil Text Stamps
Would you like a word embellishment in a hurry but don’t feel confident about your own calligraphic skills? If so this foam stamp making craft might be for you. It uses stencils to reverse letter so you can stamp any word of your choice.
You will need some stencils, letters or words, some adhesive foam and some foam board. You will also need a soft, dull graphite pencil. Remove the paper backing from the foam board.
Choose your stencil and flip it so it reads backwards. Place it on your foam adhesive and trace the word or letters with your pencil making a deep impression. You will also have to assemble your word from right to left instead of left to right. You can flip a rubber text stamp to guide you. This means you will have to reverse the direction of both your letters and your word to get it to stamp properly. Peel your foam adhesive back and secure your stamp to your board. Write the word correctly on the back of the foam board with a Sharpie to help you place your stamp.
You can use a medium of your choice for stamping. Some choices are ink, washable markers, alcohol markers, acrylic, gouache or watercolor markers. You might need a mist of water or water mixed with rubbing alcohol to get your medium moist enough for transfer. You can also wet your paper, wet but not shiny to transfer medium.
You can use these stamps for gelli prints.
