Soft Book Page Texture
Book pages are a great resource for paper projects but sometimes the text is less than ideal. If you don’t want to get out the gesso or another medium to camouflage offending text try toilet paper, tissue or the white ply of a multi ply napkin. The tissue is thin enough to allow the text to be visible but it is difficult to read.
After gluing your toilet paper on your book page with a glue stick to hide the text areas you can add a collage design on top. The book page will now have an added soft texture.
You can emboss it and swipe some ink over the top to make the text recede further for a subtle background. Hide as much text as you want or allow more text to peek through and just ink the edges. An open pattern embossing folder allows more text to show. Another idea is to cover some text areas with torn tissue while while some text remains bold, if you emboss, just ink the tissue areas. Play around and see how many different effects you can get.
Use your book pages to create bags, tags, envelopes, pockets or other ephemera or just keep your page as is for a textured, tactile journal insert.
To hide unwanted text in a hurry without the mess remember toilet paper, tissue or your leftover napkin ply and create some soft texture book page ephemera.
Happy paper crafting!
