Fall Journal
This texture inspired fall journal holds photo memories, leaves and other assorted ephemera. The momigami cover is a new journal cover idea of sewn paper layers to help retain the feel and flexibility. It adds structure without the stiffness of a folder or packaging material. A beaded spine, and a variety of page edges add more texture to this simple book design. Heavier scrapbook weight paper spine wrap/flaps help create sections within the one signature and add some pretty details.

Most ephemera for this journal is natural so I just wanted a way to capture the day and the season with color, texture, sound and lots of loose threads reminding me of the blowing straw like grasses, ferns and falling leaves beginning to crunch under my feet, making it a sensory experience that captured our adventure to a new remote and wild place perfectly.
Making every page edge different was inspired by Journal Masters on Shopify, this added a lot of visual interest.
There are lots of loose threads, string, knots and different textured bits and pieces throughout the book.
I made scrapbook weight paper spine wrap/flaps to create sections within the one signature and edged them differently too.
Since this fall excursion was mostly a hike in a remote area most of my ephemera is natural, feathers taped with washi and leaves, simply displayed between sheets of wax paper which added a nice sound.
I also edged each photo corner with texture, using only two makes switching out photos easy.
Combining papers helps keep things interesting, the copper foil and touches of lavender add some extra color. I don’t mind bits of white, it helps brighten things up and it gives me a place to add a collage. The snippet of plaid paper became a tab and reminds me of a flannel shirt and things always seem to work together in the end.
One last photo reminds me of our beautiful hike through woods, the warm fall day and another family adventure to a new place.
