Boho Buttons

Buttons are one of the easiest DIY paper projects that take a short time to make. These boho buttons are made with embossing folders, scrap paper, packaging, ink and a few common paper punches. The graphic style makes them pop. A simple any day scrap buster project that will get a lot of future use.

What you’ll need:

Card stock paper scraps or any simple graphic paper

Packaging

Assorted paper punches: (1″ – 1 1/2″ and 1/8″)

Glue

Embossing folders, your choice.

Embossing/die cutting machine.

Glue

Begin with arranging small scraps of card stock paper on an embossing folder of your choice. Any color will do. Use the deboss side up and glue to a same size circle punched out of packaging. Use a real button if you like or just simple measure with a grid or ruler and make a template as shown in the video for your button holes. You can also use larger embossed scraps if you have them and ink the entire thing before punching. If you don’t have an embossing die cutting machine you can use any simple graphic style paper, the look will be similar. You can save and use your card emboss fails for this project if you want to recycle. A great timesaver is to store your button templates with your finished buttons so it is always handy for making any style of button.

Take an ink pad and lightly swipe over the top of your button. Small ink pads work best and it doesn’t have to be perfect. Trace as shown and punch your button holes. You can also edge your buttons with ink, marker or metallic pen if desired.

This quick paper craft can be used for a variety of closures,  embellishing cards and more. Make a bunch in a variety of colors and you’ll have some stylish embellishments in no time.

Happy paper crafting!
