Stencil Watercolor Pages For Journals
In the next few videos I’m going to be adding color and interest to pages without dying on some loose stacks of white copy paper and lightweight sketchbook papers that I don’t have another use for. I’ll be using these for pages in future journals.
For this first try I am just loosely adding color shapes and some mark making, splatters etc. before drying and stenciling another layer on top. If it’s not wet enough I spray it and press a second blotter sheet over it so I can cover two sheets at once. This gave two different types of effects. I also used my brayer to do one background.
Supplies are basic pan watercolors, brushes, brayer, circle making tools and stencils.
I’ll be exploring this to begin adding some more color and interest variations for pages in journals that aren’t vintage although I will do some toned down neutral versions and maybe I’ll add some ink, mixed media or marker explorations as well but for the moment my goal is to keep clean up to a minimum and creativity contained while still creating something useful. It will also give me some more options for a quick way to add color to stray pages in the future in between dying sessions as well as helping me reduce paper clutter. I hope you find it useful.
Happy paper crafting!
