materials

What you’ll need:

1 1/2″ circle – sturdy (or boho button)

1″ x 6″ strip of scrapbook weight paper (your choice)

Paperclips (small and large)

String, twine, ribbon, yarn, lace, at least 12″ length (your choice)

Beads, charms, paper beads (your choice)

Glue

Scissors

Begin by choosing all of your materials and ensuring your paper button has two holes made with a standard size hole punch instead of small holes to ensure easy threading of your gathered string. Gather your string in the center and thread through the back of your button in bottom hole using a twist tie needle if necessary. If it is too bulky to thread eliminate some strands. Pull strand through to the back of the button in the upper second hole leaving enough length to thread onto the bottom loop of a paper clip. Arrange as desired. It’s best if your gathered threads form a front facing loop through your paperclip bottom (like hanging a towel) so that it lies flat and is not twisted. Tips in video.

Thread your 1×6″ paper strip into your paperclip as shown and wrap like a bead until you reach the back and glue. Make sure the design you want is on the front of the paperclip and your button is also front facing. Thread beads, charms etc. onto your strands as desired. Add a small paperclip to the top of your beaded paperclip for clipping. Trim strands as needed.

Happy paper crafting!
