What you’ll need:
1 1/4″ x 5″ or 6″ paper strips (your choice) – card stock weight works best.
1/2″ or slightly wider paper strips for smaller paper bead dangle.
Paperclips – large and small
Safety pins
Beads
Embellishments (your choice)(charms or jewelry with jump rings attached)
Glue
Scissors
Tips:
Assembly requires that your bottom dangle be threaded on your paperclip before making your first paper bead if using a safety pin as a dangle.
Gently roll your paper to keep the bead shape rounded and secure with a loose clip.
Be sure that your paper strips are threaded properly so they don’t slide or separate from the paperclip.
Thread the smaller paper strip through the top and bottom join of small paperclips to keep them more secure.
If making a double dangle try to keep each seam in the back.
You can use fabric strips with the same proportions, lengthen the strip if fabric is thin to keep a rolled shape.
Hang from a bulb pin, safety pin or brad fasteners with a pull ring.
Ideas:
Decorate with appliqués, ribbon, shabby fabric strips, wrapped string or wire. You can also add silk or paper flowers. Use any junk jewelry or charms, keep the jump ring attached to it hangs properly. Rust your paperclips and safety pins if desired. You can wrap your paper beads with washi tape or other glued embellishments like stamps. Hang, ribbon string or torn fabric strips off the bottom loop. Paint or varnish them or create shine with glitter glue or glitter nail polish. Add texture paint or use embossed card stock strips. Can also be made with heavy paper book pages for a fun illustrative look. Try wallpaper strips too. Create in any theme or color scheme.
These easy junk paperclip bead dangles are a fun addition to your junk journal and require no special tools or findings.
