Tab Pocket Toppers
These tab pocket toppers make almost any style of pockets more fabulous. This project features two styles of pockets with a new layered tab creation as embellishments. Make any size and then layer on more tabs to use every little scrap.
materials
What you’ll need:
6×6″ scrapbook or any type paper, single or double sided (can also be any size)
Paper strips, assorted widths and lengths to make your tabs
Glue
Scissors
Assemble envelopes as shown in the video tutorial to make pockets. These can be any size but I cut 4 – 6×6″ from a single sheet 12×12″ to make 4 co-ordinating pockets. Another style of pocket is also shown in the video.
Tabs can be created and assembled in many ways but for this project I stacked 3 different width and length folded strips creating a staggered effect. Each corner is cut tag style with a tag corner punch but if you have a decorator corner punch you can use that as well. They are positioned slightly above the top edge of the pocket and glued in place. Any remaining scraps of paper can be added to the sides or top for more tiny tab decoration.
Pockets can be filled with tags, cards and embellished as much as desired. Try adding to tabs to different pocket styles in different ways, along the side or bottom. Punch a hole or holes and dangle some charms from them or just add some string for a little more texture.
Happy paper crafting!
