How To: Embellished Frames

Embellished Frames

These embellished frames are a great scrap buster project that begins with a tab as a base and ends in the style of your choice. Add a little, add a lot, scraps, embellishments, flowers, envelopes, tags, appliques, postage stamps, fabric, ribbon or lace.

Begin by making your frames. You can use pre-made frames, you can make them with dies if you prefer, you can cut them from scrap packaging material or you can learn how I make mine with scraps from the tutorial. Any corner square is helpful to ensure your angles remain sharp. After the glue dries I press these in my Sizzix.

Cover your frame as desired. You can use washi, stamps, paint, ink or spray. You can also emboss your frames. Embossing hides the seams very well. In the tutorial I demonstrate how to make handmade washi from simple invisible tape and a magazine.

Choose a tab of your choice to begin embellishing, place it as shown in the tutorial on any side of the frame. This will be your base. Add any embellishments of your choice, as little or as many as you want.

Use as a focal point on covers, tags, cards or to add some flair to any project.

Happy paper crafting!
