Matchbook Treat Holder
A new spin on matchbook paper crafts. This quick and easy treat holder uses a matchbook design turned upside down to create a simple closure at the top. It has two pockets inside for tea, treats or happy mail. I used my own Millefiori Paper Collection and some scrapbook paper for the matchbook cover.
materials
What you’ll need:
1 3.5″ x 8″ scrapbook or card stock weight paper
1 6.5″ x 7″ your choice paper
scoreboard
paper punch
glue
embellishment for front
staples/stapler
Score your 3.5″ x 8″ paper at 3.5″ and 4″. Turn to the opposite side and score at 3/4″ for your flap.
With the short side of your 6.5″ x 7″ paper at the top of your scoreboard score at 1/2″ and 3.5″. Make a quarter turn. Score at 3 5/8″ and turn 180º and score again at 3 5/8″. That’s two scores at 3 5/8″.
Fold and burnish each paper. Glue your flap on your pocket paper, and fold. Punch your notches on both pockets at once and fold so the glued flap is facing inside if desired. Glue your pockets into the center fold of your matchbook as shown in video tutorial. Staple your matchbook flap as close to the edge as possible to avoid catching your pockets.
Embellish the front as desired. Fill with tea, treats or ephemera.
Have fun creating this quick and easy paper craft to use as an Easter favor, to tuck in an Easter basket or give as a simple gift.
Happy paper crafting!
