A Versatile And Easy Book Style For Any Level
Last post I combined two simple projects from Ceri The Crafter and Gabbing With Grammee making my own mini collage book.
This week’s book project is a little larger at 5X5″ and it is created with digitals from Collectanea Paper Collection. When I saw how the pages were glued back to back in the inspiration video from Grammee I thought it would be a good idea for the times when you don’t feel like printing both sides of a digital or don’t want to waste both sides of double sided scrapbook paper.
I also incorporated my own ideas on how to make this an on the go book. I loved how Ceri tucked in tear sheets in his folio (with an elastic band) as they can be switched out easily. I thought the paper from G45 that Grammee used was so beautiful; it brought to mind the kinds of books my daughter would’ve loved when she was younger.
The ideas inspired by Ceri are for us big kids. I thought what a great idea for collage on the go when you don’t want your stuff falling all over the place. I’ll add my other idea/s for holding your supplies next time.
These types of books aren’t meant to be brimming with ephemera so I added just a few sleeves and one flip. The sleeves are for holding your tear sheets for on the go collage and the pocket holds a little bag for your collected ephemera.
I haven’t quite decided what this book of mine will be used for but some other ideas are:
- memory book
- collage book
- mixed media
- mini album for photos
- coloring book
So versatile, I’m pretty sure I’ll be making another one using watercolor paper for my daughter as an on the go watercolor sketchbook and I’ll probably tuck drawing paper inside as well.
I really enjoyed these last few projects for summer, they fit the bill for quick and easy paper crafts that still leave time for enjoying these waning summer days.
I hope they inspire you to create something just for yourself and use it in your own special way to fit in some creative time for yourself, your kids or that other special person who would like a neatly bound book to while away the minutes of their own.

I created my little collage fodder catch all bag out of parchment paper, inked the edges of my inside pages, rounded my corners and for now this little board book is finished.
