Marker Stamping Rustic Boho
If you’d like to explore laid back washable markers as a medium but bright and bold kid colors aren’t for you try changing the color of your base to something more muted like kraft, tea or coffee dyed or even pre-painting your own backgrounds with soft neutrals. This will instantly dull those bright marker colors for a more rustic look. You can also try painting your background a lighter or similar shade of your marker colors for a monotone look. Choose stamps to suit your style whether boho or natural and learn how easily color combinations can change a look or mood.
Find a variety of papers that are already neutral like kraft paper or kraft color packing tape.
You can stamp with foam, rubber or silicone stamps in a variety of ways with markers. Color your stamps, scribble some marker on a smooth plastic surface like acetate and apply a spritz of water. Dip your stamp into the liquid color and stamp. Spray or wet your paper with a brush first and then stamp for a print. Your paper should be wet but not shiny.
You can try marker smooshing for an abstract background before stamping. Scribble some marker onto a piece of acetate and then turn over and smoosh the liquid side onto your base. This works better with paper that isn’t coffee dyed.
Marker stamping is so easy and fun. Try adding this inexpensive and colorful medium to your next paper project.
Happy paper crafting!
