Get Earthy Fossil Embellishments
Let the organic forms of this watercolor and stamping masterboard technique take you on a creative journey. You can make embellishments like buttons, charms, tags or even paperclips. You can also dangle them from a piece of driftwood for a natural mobile art piece. You can make a frame or ornaments. Let your imagination be your guide.
Choose stamps of your choice but be sure to use only waterproof ink. Use any watercolor paper and don’t worry about mistakes. Any grade of watercolors is fine.
The high gloss finish lets the watercolor shine and adds depth and richness similar to a fired ceramic piece. Add some metallic watercolor to mimic mineral striations and finish with a high gloss acrylic product of your choice. Apply thin coats in several layers unless using a spray and then one or two coats will suffice. Use your finger to spread to avoid brush marks if using a liquid acrylic product.
Finish as desired. If making buttons you might want a sturdy punch as these are three layers of paper. Make a variety of sizes and shapes. You can sew onto a circle map as shown or make a button card of your choice for your crafty friends.
Have fun and explore this fun technique and let it take you on your next creative venture.
Happy paper crafting!
